• Uttar Pradesh government is going to introduce the country's first highway patrol on NH-2 and NH-25 for which the personnel will be trained by New Zealand Police and the uniform will be designed by fashion designers. With financial aid to the tune of Rs. 250-crore from World Bank, a separate unit -- Uttar Pradesh Highway Patrol (UPHP) -- will be raised whose jurisdiction will be limited to the highways it patrols.
  
  उत्तरप्रदेश देश में पहली राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग गश्ती दल सेवा शुरू करने जा रहा है, जिसके कर्मचारियों को न्यूजीलैंड पुलिस प्रशिक्षण देगी और उनकी डिजाइनर वर्दी होगी। विश्व बैंक से 250 करोड़ रुपए की वित्तीय सहायता के बाद एक अलग इकाई उत्तर प्रदेश राजमार्ग गश्ती (यूपीएचपी) का गठन होगा जिसका अधिकार क्षेत्र राजमार्गों पर गश्ती तक सीमित रहेगा। इस सेवा की शुरूआत राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग दो और राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग 25 से होगी।
   
• "It has been decided by the government of India to withdraw the 20:80 scheme and restrictions placed on import of gold," the Reserve Bank said. The rule, along with the high customs duty of 10% — raised in stages to that level last year — had led to a rise in smuggling, besides distorting imports. The government said the current account deficit is no longer a concern so there is no reason to keep the curb in place.
  
  भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने सोना आयात पर अगस्त, 2013 में लागू की गई 80-20 योजना अब खत्म कर दी है। गौरतलब है कि 80:20 योजना के तहत सोना आयात का नया ऑर्डर देने से पहले आयातित सोने में से 20% सोने के आभूषणों का निर्यात करना जरूरी था। चालू खाते के घाटे (कैड) बढ़ने में सोने का आयात अहम माना जाता है।
   
• Mark Strand, a Pulitzer Prize winner and former US poet laureate widely praised for his concentrated, elegiac verse, has died. He was 80. Strand, works has been translated into more than 30 languages.
  
  पुलित्जर पुरस्कार से सम्मानित अमेरिका के कवि मार्क स्ट्रैंड का यहां 80 साल की उम्र में निधन हो गया। स्ट्रैंड ने कल सुबह अपनी बेटी के न्यूयॉर्क स्थित आवास पर अंतिम सांस ली। उनकी रचनाओं का 30 से भी ज्यादा भाषाओं में अनुवाद हो चुका है।
   
• PV Sindhu defeated South Korea's Kim Hyo Min 21-12, 21-17 to win the Macau Open Grand Prix title. The Indian shuttler's performance was a mega affair after she pocketed the game in just 45 minutes at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau. The two-time World Championship bronze-medallist, had earlier defeated Thailand's Busanan Ongbumrungpan, in 42 minutes in the semi-final.
  
  विश्व चैम्पियनशिप की दो बार की कांस्य पदक विजेता पीवी सिंधू ने 120000 डॉलर इनामी मकाऊ ओपन ग्रां प्री गोल्ड में अपने खिताब की सफलतापूर्वक रक्षा करते हुए महिला एकल के फाइनल में कोरिया की किम हयो मिन को हराकर सत्र का अपना पहला खिताब जीता। दुनिया की 11वें नंबर की खिलाड़ी सिंधू ने 91वें नंबर की किम को 45 मिनट चले खिताबी मुकाबले में 21-12, 21-17 से हराया।
   
• Work has moved into top gear for finalizing the name and structure for the new institution that will replace the 64-year old Planning Commission and the same may be unveiled this December. Besides, there have been reports about the new body being named as Niti Aayog or Policy Commission. The new institution, which is likely to be headed by the Prime Minister as was the case in Planning Commission, may have four divisions — Inter-state council, plan evaluation office, UIDAI and DBT. All the divisions would have experts from the Centre and state governments as also experts from the industry.
  
  योजना आयोग के स्थान पर बनने वाली नई संस्था के नाम व ढांचे को अंतिम रूप देने का काम जोर-शोर से चल रहा है और यह इस साल दिसंबर तक अस्तित्व में आ सकता है। नये संस्थान का नाम नीति आयोग रखे जाने की रपटें भी हैं। नये संस्थान की अध्यक्षता योजना आयोग की तरह प्रधानमंत्री ही कर सकते हैं। इसमें चार मुख्य इकाइयां हो सकती हैं। ये चार इकाइयां- अंतर-राज्य परिषद, योजना मूल्यांकन कार्यालय, यूआईडीएआई और प्रत्यक्ष लाभ अंतरण (डीबीटी) हो सकतीं हैं। इन इकाइयों में केन्द्र और राज्य सरकारों के साथ-साथ उद्योगों से भी विशेषज्ञ शामिल होंगे।
   
• To further secure its position as the world’s aviation hub, Dubai Airports is building a whopping USD 32—billion greenfield airport at the upcoming Dubai World Central, 30 km off the present international airport which already is the second busiest in the world. The proposed new airport will become the world’s largest aviation facility on completion and will have five runways which all will be simultaneously operational, all A380-compatible with a length of 4.5 km each.
  
  विश्व के विमानन हब के तौर पर खुद को स्थापित करने के लिए दुबई एयरपोटर्स 32 अरब डॉलर के निवेश से दुबई वर्ल्ड सेंट्रल में विश्व का सबसे बड़ा हवाईअड्डा बना रही है जो मौजूदा अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डे से 30 किलोमीटर दूर होगा। इसमें पांच रनवे होंगे जिन्हें एक साथ परिचालन में लाया जा सकेगा। ये सभी रनवे ए-380 विमान के उड़ान भरने और उतरने के अनुरूप होंगे।

  सदी के उत्तरार्ध में तटीय बाढ़ की वजह से सर्वाधिक आबादी वाले तटीय शहरों मुंबई और कोलकाता को जान-माल के नुकसान का सबसे ज्यादा खतरा है। पेरू की राजधानी लीमा में महत्वपूर्ण वैश्विक जलवायु सम्मेलन से पहले सरकार ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एक रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुए यह बात कही है।
   
• India has reviewed all aspects of its bilateral cooperation with resource-rich Mozambique and both sides agreed there was greater scope for bilateral economic cooperation, including enhancing Indian investments in the southeast African country. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met visiting Mozambique Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Oldemiro Baloi.
  
  विदेश मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज से मोजांबिक के विदेशी मामले एवं अंतरराष्ट्री य सहयोग मंत्री ओल्डेिमिरो बलोई से उभयपक्षीय संबंधों को और मजबूत बनाए जाने पर विचार-विमर्श किया। दोनों ने इस बात पर सहमति व्यक्त की कि दोनों देशों के बीच आर्थिक सहयोग बढ़ाए जाने विशेष तौर पर मोजांबिक में भारतीय निवेश बढ़ाए जाने की काफी संभावनाएं हैं।
   
• The first passenger train to Meghalaya from Assam was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The train will run between Mendipathar to Guwahati. Modi flagged off the train via remote control at a function at Railway Stadium in Maligoan in Guwahati.
  
  प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने मेघालय के लिए पहली ट्रेन को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया जिसके साथ ही आजादी के छह दशक से अधिक समय बाद मेघालय आज देश के रेल नक्शे पर आ गया। इस मौके पर प्रधानमंत्री ने रेलवे स्टेशनों के निजीकरण की वकालत की।
   
• Retirement fund body EPFO has decided to become a registrar of the Unique Identification Authority of India to facilitate enrolment of its subscribers who don't have Aadhaar numbers. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) wants to seed over 4.2 crore portable Universal PF Account Numbers issued by it, with the Aadhaar number of subscribers.
  
  कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन (ईपीएफओ) जल्द भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) का पंजीयक बनेगा। ईपीएफओ अपने अंशधारकों का नामांकन करेगा जिनके पास आधार नंबर नहीं है। ईपीएफओ चाहता है कि 4.2 करोड़ यूनिवर्सल पीएफ खाता नंबरों (यूएएन) को अपने अंशधारकों के आधार नंबर के साथ जोड़ना चाहता है।
